Greater & Greener: Parks connecting cities, cultures & generations, 7/29 – 8/2, 2017, MN

The City Parks Alliance will present the GREATER & GREENER: Parks Connecting Cities, Cultures & Generations conference in Saint Paul, Minnesota from July 29 through August 2, 2017.

Greater & Greener is the leading international conference for urban park leaders, city planning and design professionals, public officials, advocates, funders, and innovators to explore the issues, challenges, and opportunities facing today’s urban parks.

Presented by City Parks Alliance, and held every two years in a major North American city, Greater & Greener increases awareness of the positive impact that parks and green spaces can have on our urban communities. Bringing together more than 1,000 leaders from the urban parks community, Greater & Greener explores how urban parks can be designed, developed, programmed, funded, and sustained to meet future demands. By broadening the discussion and relevance of urban parks to engage leaders from health, science, technology, and other sectors, Greater & Greener aims to inspire participants to re-imagine parks in a new context of economic, environmental, and social opportunities. Parks are directly relevant to regional ecosystems, community health needs, public-private partnerships, sustainable development, neighborhood equity, and shifting demographics.

City Parks Alliance is excited to bring Greater & Greener to Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Frequently regarded as two of America’s greenest cities, the Twin Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis have two of the oldest, largest, and most recognized park and recreation systems in the nation. Anchored by the iconic Mississippi River, the Twin Cities offer 430 parks and open spaces for experiential learning. With a landscape that includes Minnehaha Falls, Como Lake, Chain of Lakes, and over 20 miles of the Mississippi River, Saint Paul and Minneapolis are distinctively shaped by these remarkable natural features.

From our conference hub at the Saint Paul RiverCentre in the heart of downtown overlooking the Mississippi River, participants will learn and network through expert-led tours, hands-on workshops, inspiring speakers, and special events – while connecting with peers from cities around the world.

The Intercontinental Saint Paul Riverfront is the official Greater & Greener 2017 hotel with great rates just for you!

Located in the heart of downtown and atop the bluffs of the Mississippi River, the InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront offers unrivaled access to the best of the Twin Cities and is conveniently-located within walking distance to the Saint Paul RiverCentre, the Greater & Greener 2017 conference hub.

The hotel is just steps away from live theater, museums, dining, specialty shopping, and an extensive park and trail system. And, if you wish to see Minneapolis, the Light Rail is also within walking distance to the hotel.
