RFP: Redeveloper wanted for 140-acre site of dead shopping mall in Missouri

The Jamestown Mall was an enclosed shopping mall in Florissant, Missouri. Opened in 1973, the mall formerly included Dillard’s, JCPenney, Macy’s, and Sears as its anchor stores. The mall became increasingly vacant since the beginning of the 2000s, and finally closed in July 2014.

On January 9, 2018, the St. Louis County Port Authority issued an RFP to find a purchaser and redeveloper for an approximately 140-acre property located at the former Jamestown Mall site in St. Louis County, Missouri (the “Property”).

The Property is located at the intersection of N. Lindbergh Blvd (US Highway 67) and Old Jamestown Rd, one mile west of the recently expanded Missouri Route 367. The Property includes improvements with 1 million square feet “under roof” and 2 million square feet of asphalt parking.

The Property offers access to all of the amenities of the St. Louis region. The future developer will benefit from the Property’s strategic location within a residential area, access to major highways and interstates, proximity to public transportation, and existing access to public utilities.

Polls of local residents indicate that they want the mall site to be more than department stores and fast food. Suggest uses include an organic food store, an auto repair shop, a pet shelter, a theater and a civic center.

Bids are due by April 20, 2018, at 3 p.m. CT.
